Almost every Texas house has textured walls — orange peel, knockdown, or one of the heavier patterns from earlier decades. That texture is why a drywall repair here is really two jobs: closing the hole, and making the repair vanish into the wall around it. The first is easy. The second is the trade.
Paint alone never hides a patch on a textured wall. Light rakes across wall surfaces at shallow angles, and a smooth patch in a textured field reads from across the room — often more visibly than the original damage. The repair has to rebuild the surface, not just the color.
Matching texture is a matter of matching three things: the pattern, the scale and the density. Orange peel sprayed too heavy reads as a different wall; knockdown troweled at the wrong moment flattens into smears. The right result comes from testing the spray on scrap until it matches, feathering the new texture past the patch edges, and only then painting — ideally corner to corner, because a paint touch-up ages differently than the wall around it.
The same skill is what makes remodel work blend into the rest of the house. When a wall comes out or a doorway moves, the new sheetrock meets the old somewhere — and whether you can find that seam a year later depends entirely on the taping and texture work.
We hang, finish and texture sheetrock as part of remodels across Houston and the surrounding metro — and we make the seams disappear. Dannys Tile and Remodeling, (832) 520-6165. Request a quote any time through the form on this site.
